Where to begin? Okay...so a few weeks ago Rhiannon and I were talking on the phone, and inevitably the Slender Man came up. I was on a Slender blog on the computer while we were talking, and I began reading an article to her, and then all of a sudden the sound just...went off. I waited a minute, and it seemed like I must have accidentally clicked mute or hung up, but checking the phone, the volume was on and we seemed to still be connected. I waited a whole ten minutes with absolutely no sound before finally hanging up and calling her again. It had done the same for her. I think he must have messed with the electromagentic frequencies.
I wasn't nervous of the Slender Man at all at that point, and so I was like, laughing, "Well, go look out the window, is he there?"
He was.
Lately Rhiannon has been experiencing a phenomena similar to that recorded in the early modern witchcraft trials, except this seems to be real -- she had animal claw-like scratches on her arm and back, and two small puncture wounds that looked like fang marks on her thumb, and I saw all of these with my own eyes -- and the next day they had miraculously healed. Next time (next time?) I have to remember to get photographic evidence, darn it!
The Slender Man has started appearing at our school. Perhaps unrelated, but I think it is, is one incident in particular. Last Tuesday evening I was sitting on the living room floor, and I happened to look down the hallway at the open door to my bedroom. For some reason, I felt like going down there, and I got up and walked to the doorway, paused there for a minute, then went by my desk and just stood there, thinking. All of a sudden I felt really dizzy like I do when my anemia's acting up, lightheaded yet pulled down, like I was about to faint. Instead, I sat down on my bed, and everything was back to normal. But the next day at school, she told me about a similar feeling.
On last Tuesday night, when I went to sleep, I had one of those dreams were it feels distinctly unlike a dream, more than a dream, if that makes sense. I couldn't see it, but I was standing in that same spot, and something behind me pulled my hair and hissed things at me, mocking me, and I think...but I'm not sure, and I don't want to be wrong...I think it made some sort of implicit threat against some completely uninvolved stranger. A completely uninvolved, innocent, stranger. And it feels like it would be my fault. It's different -- I got involved willingly, I jumped into this wanting to know more. It was my choice. But this? We know so little about the Slender Man, that's the real problem. If it was some sort of traditional vampire, or something like that, then that's well-documented, you have hundreds of accounts and books written. But it's so much harder with the Slender Man.
But, my research, which was formerly at a dead end, has finally found a place to continue from. My mother did mention the predynastic Egyptian pharaoh Wazner, who was associated with some sort of 'tentacled being'!
Engravings in Wazner's tomb, showing a 'tentacled being'.
