I really should be asleep right now, but my insomnia's keeping me up, so here I am. I just saw a comment on a blog post about our friend Slendy, and it was from a person in Malaysia who said something about a supernatural creature called the 'Hantu galah', or bamboo ghost, that seemed very similar to the Slender Man. Finally! Finding cultural parallels to a formerly completely unknown entity is progress. So anyway, I looked for it, and Wikipedia (yes, I know, such a reliable source!) says a way to get rid of it is simply picking up a twig and breaking it. Well, if only it was that simple, but I'll try it. I also found a full article on it, but it was in another language, I think Malaysian but I really don't know. So, I used Google Translate. And it's kind of a ridiculously weird sounding translation, but here it is.

Hi, Elizabeth! My name is Cass and I've recently moved to Malaysia to be closer to my mother's side of the family. The place I moved into, The Pavilion in Kuala Lumpur, is said to be haunted. I have stayed there 4 years back with my little brother and my mom. My brother was staying in the same room as me and since we just moved in from Kuching, Sarawak, we had no curtains(We were sleeping beside a huge glass wall). He fell asleep very late claiming that he saw someone outside the window and that the person looked angry. My brother used to have imaginary friends so, I reckoned that this was another one of his friends. My aunt decided to stay over as well. We all slept in the same room while my mom fell asleep in the living room. At around 3 am, I heard my brother screaming and crying. I woke up facing the other side of the room and caught a small glimpse of something red before turning around to ask my brother what was going on. My aunt and mom also rushed into the room at the time. He said that there was a man outside the window. That he was angry and that he was red. He was only 5 when he saw this 'Red Man'. In the basement/parking place, he claimed he saw a baby on the ground. There were 3 basements and all of them had 2 guards in it. I spoke to the guards once and they told me about the haunting a in the basements. On the first basement, every Friday night, during the Maghrib Azan (6:55 pm), they will hear a girl crying from the staircase. On the second basement, there will be children laughing at people, but you can't see them. On the third basement, there's a whole family of these creatures, standing in the middle of the parking lot. Kuala Lumpur has lots of creatures roaming around. About this Hantu Galah, me and my aunt has seen it before. And yes it looks a lot like slender man. But it was climbing the wall of the building across of us. It was very flexible and long and dark. We saw it climb around for a while then it got too dark and I couldn't see it anymore. My aunt said that lots of people killed themselves in that building. And that kids got pulled of the edge of the balcony. At Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur, two people jumped off the building. The weird thing was that they both fell off the building at the exact same place. My granddad told me that when he was a kid, he would see people without feet gliding across the road. Zombies. They are lots of people who have been cursed because of Shamans and djinns. The Hantu Galah isn't too difficult to get rid off but very difficult to find. And to be honest, I never want to see it again. It pulled children off the building. I've been seeing this thing in my dreams now. But a very recent one was of a ghost called the Penanggal. It goes around the city to find pregnant woman so it can drink their blood. It's soul is separated from its body. It's basically a floating head with its lungs and heart connected to it. Well, that's much about it. I hope this helps you. Love, Cass.
